October 2016 Report

All meetings are held in the Oak room at the Falcon and will start at 7.30pm.
It was good to see new faces at the September meeting and do look forward to seeing more of you in the future.
For the November general meeting we are having a talk by John Jones from Philip Morris Direct on e-commerce. The Philip Morris retail business, in the centre of Hereford, has been transformed by using e-commerce, which is rapidly becoming the first choice for a majority of the shopping public. Please do come and find out what is involved and how you can benefit by setting up an on-line shopping service.
At the time of writing it seems more like summer than autumn, so any mention of Christmas may seem premature. Unfortunately, for the Chamber of Commerce planning for the Christmas Switch on is a year-long event for this most important promotion for the local businesses and the town. Last year we produced a flyer promoting the switch-on, which included details of events on the day, which included details of special events that retailers were putting on. For this year we would like to do the same again and should there be enough interest, perhaps make it a pamphlet.
It does seem a shame that with such a good light display, that we have not been making the most of it and put on late night shopping during the period leading up to Christmas. Is there enough interest to have late night shopping this year? Should you have plans for an event or promotion for the switch-on, which this year is on 19th November, please email details to d_grant@btopenworld.com or drop off information in to the Falcon for the attention of the Bromyard Chamber of Commerce – trade and charity events. Please let us know if you would be interested in opening your shop for late night shopping – email to the above email address.
